Ingredients (Serves 2)
- Little millet (or barnyard/kodo millet)- ½ cup
- Water-1¼ cups
- Fresh Tulsi leaves -10–12 (or ½ tsp dried)
- Shatavari powder-½ tsp
- Grated carrot -¼ cup
- Chopped spinach or moringa leaves -¼ cup
- Cow Ghee or sesame oil -1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves -5–6
- Grated fresh ginger -½ tsp (optional)
- Pink salt or rock salt – to taste
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves – for Garnishing
Method of preparation
- Rinse and soak millet for 20–30 minutes.
- In a pan, heat ghee.
- Add mustard, cumin, curry leaves, and ginger.
- Saute chopped vegetables for 2–3 minutes.
- Add Tulsi leaves.
- Add soaked millet, water, and salt and stir well and add shatavari powder.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 10–12 minutes until the millet is soft.
- Switch off heat, sprinkle lemon juice, and cover for 5 mins.
- Serve warm.
- And garnish with coriander leaves.
