The National Ayush Sample Survey by the National Statistics Office shows that 98% of people in Kerala understand the AYUSH systems (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy), much higher than the national average. This reflects Kerala’s strong cultural and historical ties to traditional medicine.
The state is known for its rich Ayurvedic heritage, with a population well-informed about the benefits and practices of AYUSH. Kerala’s commitment to holistic health is supported by a thriving wellness industry, including numerous Ayurveda centers and educational institutions, making it a hub for AYUSH.
Kerala’s deep integration of AYUSH into daily life sets it apart from other regions. The survey highlights the need for expanded education and awareness programs across India to bridge the knowledge gap and encourage the use of AYUSH for better health. This would promote a more holistic approach to healthcare in other parts of the country.
