At the Inter-Ministerial Meeting for the 12th International Day of Yoga, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, delivered a welcome address, setting the strategic vision and roadmap for the upcoming observance. The meeting underscored how Yoga has evolved from India’s cultural heritage into a dynamic, worldwide movement for health, balance, and holistic living.
Highlighting the journey since its UN recognition in 2014, the Secretary emphasised that IDY is no longer just a one-day celebration, but a continuous campaign for collective well-being.
He highlighted the visionary “Yoga 365” initiative – aimed at embedding Yoga into the daily lifestyle of every citizen year-round – alongside structured 100-day, 75-day, and 50-day countdown campaigns designed to maximize mass public engagement. Celebrating the reach of Yoga across educational institutions, the armed forces, corporate sectors, and rural communities, the address reinforced Yoga as a powerful pillar of India’s cultural diplomacy.
Furthermore, he appeals for inter-ministerial synergy and urges all departments to adopt a collaborative, whole-of-government approach to ensure this year’s observance is highly inclusive, organised, and public-centric, thereby further cementing India’s global leadership in preventive healthcare.
