The first global summit on traditional medicine concluded recently. It was
organised by WHO and the Ministry of Ayush, GoI, from 17th to 18th of August,
2023, at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Here are some glimpses of the historic event with riveting discussions, interactive
sessions, exhibitions and energising yoga breaks. Senior WHO delegates, government officials, experts, academicians, traditional medicine practitioners, policymakers and stakeholders from over 75 countries participated.
A significant joint session with G20 Health Ministers took place at the Interphase Session of the summit, attended by Health Ministers of G20 Countries and their representatives, where the role of traditional medicine in universal healthcare was discussed. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the gathering via a video message.
he Hon’ble Minister of Ayush, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal; Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya; Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel; Union Minister of State for Ayush and Women and Child Development, Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai attended along with Director-General of WHO, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and other senior officials of WHO.
