I have had around 500 patients or more (including gents and children, not just ladies) suffering from hair fall in the years of my practice. What I’ve noticed common among all of these people is STRESS. Yes, you read it right. Its stress, that plays a role in hair fall, a major one actually. Any kind of stress could be responsible here- be it physical, emotional or environmental stress. Stress doesn’t mean just worrying about one or the other thing. Its way deeper than that.
As per Ayurveda, poor digestion (mandagni) is responsible for all the diseases in our body (रोगा: सर्वेपि मंदाग्नौ). Stress is one of the major cause of poor digestion.
Due to stress, sleep is compromised. We need quality sleep of at least 6-7 hours every night. Due to improper sleep, your body wouldn’t be able to get enough rest in order to function properly, which eventually leads to hormonal imbalance- PCOS, thyroid and diabetes, iron deficiency, low immunity, digestion issues like acidity, gastric trouble, IBS and bloating, low levels of Vitamin B12 and D3 (pretty much every other reason that causes hair loss).
Another important aspect here is SEDENTARY lifestyle. We need to understand that our body needs to move in order to remain healthy. For that you could go for Yoga, meditation, exercise, dance, gyming, Zumba, swimming, jogging, walking, power-yoga or anything for that matter (whatever works for you, whatever takes off your stress).
SO WHY IS EXERCISE SO IMPORTANT?
Well it is because exercise improves the blood circulation in our body reducing stress which helps us sleep better and stay peaceful. Remember all the magic in our body happens while we sleep. Sleeping is healing. It takes care of our mind and heart as well. That explains the importance of quality sleep.
Time and again I’ve been telling my patients to EAT nutrient rich diet, MOVE more (exercise is crucial), SLEEP peacefully and stay away from STRESS. That’s all it takes to lead a healthy happy and disease-free life.
LADIES special attention here🙋- I am gonna be sharing few tips on healthy hairs so listen carefully.
- Consume Amla (Indian gooseberry). It is best for hairs. Amla is one of the rasayan herbs in ayurveda. It is rejuvenative in nature. It is best to consume fresh juice of amla first thing in the morning. In india, amla is easily available in markets and grocery stores specially during winter. You can also dry amla fruits and store them in powder form to consume it all year round.
- Eat more red coloured fruits and veggies (pomegranates, carrots, beat, tomatoes).
- Stay hydrated (drink plenty of fluids).
- Please stop worrying about your husband and kids, your stress is not gonna do any good to your family. I have seen ladies taking care of each and every thing of their husband and kids, but when it comes to self- care, ladies are way behind. You cannot pour from an empty cup, take care of yourself first.
All you need to do is Stay calm and positive.
Keep exercising.
Limit the intake of fast, fried and processed food.
Replace the use of white sugar with jaggery, honey or rock sugar.
Always remember, the more you take care of your health, the healthier you and your family will be.
So BREATH deep, EAT fine, SLEEP tight and MOVE more. Stay healthy folks. Remember, Health is Happiness.
