On 21st June 2024, at the auspicious occasion of Tenth International Day of Yoga, State Model Government
Ayurveda College along with Government Akhandananda Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, located at Kolvada,
Gandhinagar, celebrated with high enthusiasm and spirits. In this occasion, Hon’ble Director Vaidya Jayesh
Parmar Sir, AYUSH Department, Gujarat, Shri N.H. Gadhvi Sir, Joint Secretary, Science and technology
department, was present as Chief Guests. Apart from them, Principal of SMIAS, Prof. Vd. Sweety Ruparel,
Deputy superintendent Dr Rakesh Bhatt, Principal in charge, GAAC, Prof. Vd. Mayank Maniyar, were
also present in this wonderful gathering. All faculties of both teaching, non-teaching of both college and
hospitals and students of the institutes gathered in a large crowd and enthusiastically celebrated Vishwa
Yoga Day.
Before one week, State Model Ayurveda College and Affiliated Hospital organized yoga protocol according
to some specific lifestyle disorders starting from 14/06/2024 – 21/06/2024. Besides, competitions like
rangoli, poster making, essay writing were enthusiastically organized by the students under the NSS unit.
After listening to the live broadcast of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Srinagar, around 1100
people gathered at the institute performed yoga and pranayama according to common yoga protocol.
Hon’ble Director of AYUSH department, Vaidya Jayesh Parmar, made a special presence and boosted
the morale of yoga to the students and employees of the institute by delivering an enthusiastic and
inspirational lecture regarding the importance of World Yoga Day and appreciated both colleges for
their dedicated activities conducted during Yoga Day. A mesmerizing performance of yoga dance was
conducted by SMIAS students followed by another performance of dramatic skit filled with fun and
facts. A digital library related to yoga was also released by the health department of Govt Akhandanand
Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya. The program enriched the ending with a lip smacking and nutritious breakfast.
A public awareness rally was also organized to Kolavada Village, in which all the officers and students of
the institute participated enthusiastically.
