Cholesterol? Dyslipidemia?
Everyone knows these words nowadays or if we do a survey for this, we can find probably one patient per house. We’re seeing these patients on a daily basis in OPD. If we talk about statistics, then According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 39% of the world adult population has been affected by elevated blood cholesterol, with a relatively higher prevalence among women (40%) than among men (37%) and it’s increased day by day
Dyslipidemia is a broad term of lipid and lipoprotein abnormalities. The primary definition of this disorder is the increased plasma level of total cholesterol, lowdensity lipoprotein, and triglyceride with a decreased level of high-density lipoprotein. Dyslipidemia is one of the most important modifiable risk factors of cardiovascular disease, which has the leading cause of death worldwide. Though, the awareness of Dyslipidemia is less compared to other metabolic diseases because in this disease, patients could not notice or feel any symptoms in the early stage.
When patients get to know for the first time that they have high cholesterol or dyslipidemia, we remember their worried faces and think now they’ve to take medicine for a lifetime. But as always in Ayurveda, Acharyas beautifully gave descriptions of treatment protocols and diet for these lifestyle disorders.
Few months back in PANCHKARMA OPD, a 49 years old patient came for weight loss. His weight was 100 kgs with no other complaints but before planning Panchakarma treatment we’ve decided to do lipid profile first (attached herewith on image 1). Seeing his reports, he was worried that what next? Do I’ve to take medicine for a lifetime ?? And so many other questions. We did the counseling of the patient and explained to him about treatment protocols.
We decided to plan Lekhan Basti for him as per his Dosha, Dushya and condition and internal medicines like Pippali Churna + Vacha Churna, Aarogya Vardhini Vati were advised for 1 week. After the completion of Panchakrma treatment, we continued internal medicine for 21 days. Report of the same attached on image 2. Then we changed some internal medicine – Katuki Churna and Aarogya Vardhini Vati for another 15 days. Then we’ve done his lipid profile after 1.5 months (Report on image 3). Later on medicines were continued for next 2 months and there is also a report of after 5 months of treatment you can see in image 4.

Patient was extremely happy that he didn’t have to take any medicine for lifestime and his faith for Ayurveda became stronger. Now he’s coming every six months for Panchakarma treatment for a healthy life.
Panchakarma treatments are always beneficial for this kind of lifestyle disorders. I suggest to you all to go to your nearby Ayurveda consultant for being healthy and to prevent yourself from future diseases.
