Let’s Understand Natural Filtration System Mechanism Now.
There are 3 mechanisms – filtering waste from blood , creating urine , and excreting it from body . Kidney uses a 3 step process – glomerular filtration , selective reabsorption and tubular secretion.
Urine is transported through ureters to bladder for storage and expelled through urethra during urination. This system is crucial for maintaining fluid balance , blood pressure and electrolyte levels.
Urinary stem functions on SRF system
- Filtration – Blood filtered in nephrons
- Reabsorption – Glucose , aminoacids and water reabsorbed back into blood stream
- Secretion – Additional waste products are secreted from blood into filtrate
A good urinary system works on basis of 7 functions
1.Filter blood
2.Remove waste products
3.Balance body fluids
4.Control electrolyte levels
5.Regulate blood pressure
6.Regulate blood pH
7.Produce hormones
If anyways this balance is hampered , there are various diseases which affects , namely
1.Beningn prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – Cells of prostate gland begin to multiply .It squeezes urethra and limits flow of urine.Symptoms affect quality of life like frequency , urgency , urination at night and dribbling.
In Ayurvedic parlance , kapha prakopa in apana sthana and mutraghata chikitsa can be done.
2.Chronic kidney disease (CKD) – There is gradual loss of kidney function over time . Kidney damage progress slowly and cause buildup of fluid or body waste.
In Ayurvedic ways , dhatwagni mandhya and amavastha in dhatus considered as vrikkaroga concept . Hence difficult to manage in Ayurveda. Early stage can be managed successfully with improving quality of life .
3.Nephrotic syndrome – Kidney disorder causing body to pass too much protein in urine . Caused damage to blood vessels in the kidneys. Symptoms include severe edema , particularly around eyes , ankles & feet , foamy urine , weight gain due to fluid retention, fatigue , loss of appetite
4.Oliguria – Medical term for urine output.Low urine output is common condition. Exact cause should be evaluated to exact cause and treat accordingly.
5.Over active bladder – Causes frequent and sudden urge to urinate that may be difficult to control.Symptoms such as a sudden urge to urinate that’s difficult to control, experience unintentional loss of urine immediately after an urgent need to urinate (urgency incontinence) , urinate frequently , usually 8 or more times in 24 hours , wake up more than two times in the night to urinate(nocturia).
6.Stricture urethra – Scarring that narrows urethral tube.Symptoms include decreased urine stream , urinary infection etc.
7.Urinary incontinence – Involuntary leakage of urine .It can be due to stress incontinence , urge incontinence , overflow incontinence , functional incontinence & mixed incontinence .
8.Urinary tract infection(UTI) – Infection in any part of urinary system.A strong urge to urinate that doesn’t go away , a burning feeling when urinating , urinating often , pelvic pain etc in centre of pelvis and around pubic bone.
